Creative tools final project "games"

I translated the game "Inscryption" from digital to analogue while also designing it to look like an Avatar: The last Airbender special edition. 

The game is entirely handmade by me, with all of the cards cut out from watercolor paper, hand-dyed with black tee and coffee and then hand-painted using markers and fineliners. I started by planning out the different card types and strengths while keeping in mind the balancing of the game.

All wooden tokens have been purchased from the local arts and crafts store and then been hand-painted using acrylic paint and markers.

I designed the cards to combine both the Inscryption and Avatar (Cartoon) artstyles with some creative freedom to match my own.

I didn't have to make up the rules or texts for the rulebook which is why I used the texts from CrypticCrafter's rulebook. I did change some of the texts to fit the Avatar Theme. Other than that I designed the rulebook myself, which I printed out and sowed together using black thread.

I like to think big in the beginning of my projects. Then I prioritize completing the most important parts (e.g. playability of the game). For this project in particular, I cut down the number of cards while still keeping the game balanced, as well as simplified the card back designs. All of the cards should have had the same/similar decoration as the cabbage cards (swirls/floral decoration around the edges), which I didn't add due to time reasons as I had to get a few other projects done that semester.

I'm overall very happy with how the game turned out (I scored 99 out of 100 points - 1p deduction due to minor printing errors in the rulebook :)), I even played it with a few of my friends. Avatar: The last Airbender is my comfort show, which is why this was a big passion project of mine.
